About the Noble Authors
Hazrat Ali Bin Abi Talib R.A is the great author of the excellent book titled ‘Nahj Al Balagha’. He was the favorite cousin of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H), as well as the son-in-law and a devoted student. Most Famous Titles of Hazrat Ali ibn al-Husayn (R.A.)
- Ali al-Akbar: Meaning “Ali the Elder” (commonly used in early historical records to distinguish him from his brothers who shared the name, Ali).
- Zayn al-Abideen: Means “The Ornament of the Worshippers”. It is his most widely recognized title and was given to him because of his beautifully intense devotion to prayer.
- Al-Sajjad: Means “The Frequently Prostrating One”. He received this because he would spend hours in long, weeping prostrations (Sajdah) before Allah.
- Sayyid al-Sajideen / Sayyid al-Abideen: Means “The Leader of Those Who Prostrate” or “The Leader of Worshippers”.
- Dhu al-Thafanat: This unique title means “The Possessor of Calluses”. The skin on his forehead, knees, and palms became thick and hardened—similar to the knees of a camel—due to the excessive frequency of his prostrations on the floor.
