The Soul’s Astronomy: Emotions & Planets

The nighttime sky is more than a collection of shining lights. It is a rhythm map that is influencing us as humans. Planets do not orbit space, and we will reach a place in the near future when scientists, everyday seekers, and the mind-body constellation of feelings will embrace this hidden pathway. Any astrologer worth their salt can attest to this invisible connection between planets and feelings as they consciously assess and identify tickling tingling in emotional responses. Really, our feelings rise and rise like cosmic tides, whereas everyone’s feelings fall as the energy flows in!

You only have to look up and congratulate the skies in your inner world.

The universe is a cosmic clock, and every planet is traveling on its orbit perfectly. Interestingly, we have feelings not only because of these movements, but we also experience a certain inner emotional disposition reflecting the planet’s movements. As a fun example, the moon impacts ocean tides and the rain cycles on Earth; we know full moons make some people feel restless. So if you can feel the universe’s still silent music, then so does your inner world.

Modern Scientific Perspectives

Modern-day science is studying the most inexplicable realms of planetary relationships. Studies are revealing that lunar cycles are linked to sleep patterns. Those who sleep during a full moon sleep less deeply. Other studies have found that solar storms cause major interference with brain activity. In fact, geomagnetic storms can trigger headaches and irritability. There are obviously connections between celestial activity and our emotional balance. Additionally, NASA recently found that the planets are transmitting vibrations. Our planets send sounds, much like music. Humans might connect to these sounds through an “orchestra” without realizing it.

Did You Know?

Did you know that astronauts have reported mood changes while flying or working in space? Many astronauts say they feel peace and tranquility when looking down at Earth. Psychologists have come to describe this experience as the “overview effect.” This indicates that the emotional state of an individual can change due to planetary perspectives.

Resonance of the Moon

New moons are beginnings, full moons are high feelings. In ancient times, they connected lunacy to moon phases. Even today, it is commonly reported by hospitals that patients become more restless during full moons. The moon can reveal the readjustment of emotional tides that have caused an eruption in the soul.

Resonance of the Planets

The planets also have symbolic meanings. Mars resonates with conflict and courage, while Venus resonates with beauty and love. While the symbols are significant, science gives some perspective: solar flares create disturbances in Earth’s electromagnetic field (the magnetosphere), and human beings are sensitive to disturbances in the magnetosphere. Thus, planetary events can affect our clarity of thought, emotional capacity, and responses.

The Quranic Connection

The Islamic perspective on our universe and the order of the cosmos, is quite beautiful. Allah states, “The sun and the moon run on measured out courses.” (55:5). This verse, which speaks to some limited harmonies of cosmic symbols, stands alongside another verse: “He subjected the sun and the moon; each runs its course for an appointed time.” (13:2). The ordered movements of all celestial bodies, including the sun and moon, are demonstrations of Divine wisdom; their harmony represents some level of harmony within the soul.

The Heart as a Mirror

Many Islamic scholars have compared the heart to the sky. When the heart is pure, it acts as a mirror to Divine light; when the heart is clouded, it reflects chaos. Imam al-Ghazali even states that the state of the heart influences perception. Similar to how planets have orbits, hearts also have desires. And having a pure heart helps experiencers be more in harmony with their own peace.

Did You Know?

The Quran states that we are guided by the stars. “And by them [by the stars] they are guided” (16:16). Guidance is not just physical but is a metaphor for navigating spirituality.

Psychological Body Rhythms and Planet Earth

Psychology is about studying body rhythms and cycles. Humans experience a 24-hour cycle rhythm. The 24-hour cycles relate to the movement of the sun. When a person’s rhythms are interrupted, this leads to an emotional overload on the person. We know that shift work can produce depression and anxiety, and limited sleep can lead to increased stress. The cycles of planetary rhythms can lead to changes in people’s psychology.

Collective Feelings from the Planetary

There are planetary events that create a totality of emotional experiences for human beings. Solar eclipses are awe-inspiring experiences. Meteor showers are experiences of wonder and unity. The Global Consciousness Projects validated this notion. During different events, the GCP randomly reacted as a physical system of people around the globe produced collective emotional responses. These emotional responses by human beings influenced the physical systems regardless of culture or locality. Planetary events produce emotions not just for individuals but for societies.

Reflection on Islamic History

There was a solar eclipse during the life of the Prophet ﷺ, and people associated it with the death of his son. The Prophet ﷺ corrected the people, informing them, “The sun and moon are signs of Allah; they do not eclipse for the death or birth of anyone” (Bukhari). All cosmic phenomena are reminders of Divine Will and are not swayed by human emotions.

Dihikr and Emotional Resonance

Remembrance of Allah brings balance. The act of repeating Divine names creates calming vibrations. Science has shown that repetition lowers stress hormones, and the Quran states: “Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (13:28). Dhikr is a method for realigning planets in a person’s inner Samsung.

Case Study of Patience

Prophet Ayyubعليهالسلام experienced suffering that would break most people; he lost his health, wealth, and children. Yet despite the suffering and the positional challenges that would bring him to misery, Prophet Ayyub remained steadfast in his heart. The Quran states: “Indeed, We found him patient.” (38:44). Despite terrible, traumatic experiences, Prophet Ayyub’s soul remained balanced. Similar to planets in orbit, he maintained constant balance in challenging times.

Conclusion

The sky is not far away, and the heavens are a reflection of emotions. Every planetary movement speaks to the soul. Science shows that we feel the effects of cosmic movements on our feelings. Islam teaches that all planetary movements are signs of God. Both science and Islam show that there is a connection for humans between the cosmos and the soul. Every prayer links us to divine order. Every dhikr creates equilibrium. Also, every reflection is healing. The astronomy of the soul offers one truth: Humankind is not separate from the universe.
